Circle of Support Girl S.M.A.R.T and S.M.A.R.T. Boys (Science, Math, Art, Reading, and Technology)

Circle of Support Girl S.M.A.R.T and S.M.A.R.T. Boys (Science, Math, Art, Reading, and Technology) Summer Learning Programs are the only community programs targeting the prevention of summer learning loss while providing support to working families and keeping children safe and healthy in South Dallas. The eight-week program is designed to increase academic performance and achievement in the critcal areas of math and reading for students entering pre-kindergarten through 9th grade. Classes are taught be certified master teachers who are supported in the classroom by a youth teacher assistant, ensuring the maximum student-teacher ratio of 16:1. Academic classes are held Monday-Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm. The emphasis is on highly engaging, project based learning that gives the students a chance to explore, create, and develop higher level problem solving skills. from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Enrichment activites are broad and include creative arts, Pencil Pushers, Drama, Sisters in Science, Physical Education, The Write Stuff, Girl Scouts, Sign Language, Spanish, Computer, Dance, Road to College, and Kids in the Kitchen. Students are provided with a daily breakfast, hot lunch, and afternoon snack.
