In The Cats of Krasinski Square, Karen Hesse tells the story of life in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II. Food must be delivered inside the ghetto walls, but the soldiers have dogs that sniff out the hidden food that smugglers bring to Warsaw by train. Then one day along comes a young girl who risks her life along with The Cats in Krasinski Square, distracting the dogs which allows the people to smuggle food inside the Ghetto walls.
