Summer Singing Camp: Session 2
Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas
Summer Singing Camp: Session 2
Description CCGD Summer Singing Camp offers children an introduction to choral music performance, providing them with vital opportunities to express themselves and experience the unique enrichment that stems from meaningful participation in the arts. The program engages up to 150 3rd-7th grade children in high-quality arts learning and performance activities annually. Led by CCGD Artistic Director Cynthia Nott and CCGD Apprentice Chorus conductor Kimberley Ahrens, each half-day session includes full chorus rehearsals for all students and smaller breakout “sectionals” focused on: repertoire (music theory, music history, context of texts); vocal technique (with individualized coaching in tone production, intonation, diction); and instruction in Orff percussion technique (rhythm, pulse, improvisation, and active listening) by certified Orff-Schulwerk instructor Michael Chandler. The camp culminates in a free performance for campers' friends and families.
