The All Stars Project’s (ASP) mission is to transform the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance, in partnership with caring adults. Now in Dallas for seven years, we are part of a 39-year old national nonprofit with a focus to engage poverty. We use a performance-based approach to help inner-city youth and their families create success in their lives, through our free Afterschool Development programs. ASP's leadership and development training programs powerfully engage poverty by bringing together underprivileged young people of color with affluent caring adults. We invite young people from disadvantaged communities, such as West Dallas, Oak Cliff and South Dallas opportunities to perform in new contexts, on stage and off, while connecting them to successful caring adults who say “we believe in you and want to help you grow and develop”. Through these powerful experiences and connections, young people are creating a network and adding skills to their toolkit that will help them navigate life’s opportunities and challenges in new ways.
