OST in Texas: A State of the State

This past year has proven the importance of out of school time (OST) for our youth and our communities—OST is not not a luxury for some; it is a vital component of where we live and how we raise our children. Every kid in Texas deserves the opportunity to participate in high-quality afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs. We need to come together to understand where we’re at and the collective work ahead in order to realize this future for Texas kids.

Join Texas Partnership for Out of School Time (TXPOST) for a virtual briefing on the state of OST in Texas and the critical role OST will play in our state’s COVID-19 recovery and beyond. We will:
-examine state findings from America After 3PM 2020, a national household survey commissioned once every five years by the Afterschool Alliance;
-highlight the essential support OST programs provide for communities during the pandemic; and
-discuss how we will not only recover what’s been lost but also rebuild Texas education to better respond to the needs of our youth and prepare them for the careers of tomorrow.

Panelists:
Jenna Courtney, Executive Director | TXPOST
Marie Arcos, EVP Government & Community Affairs | YMCA of Greater Houston
Mitzi Stoute Faniola, Executive Director | Texas Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs
