ART WITH AN ACADEMIC TWIST - COMIC BOOK STUDIO

Excellence by Design Education Center

Youth learn the basics of comic book and graphic novel design, story structure, page composition, pacing, materials, techniques, character design, environmental drawing, and comic production! Youth also learn about the industry as a whole, how to format a script and the pros and cons of self-publishing! The Comics Art studio allows youth to go from aspiring artists to published cartoon artists, comic book writers, webtoon artists/animators, and graphic novelists. Youth participate in a Book Signing/Artwork Showcase Reception.

Youth will be able to:
  • Improve academic skills in reading, writing, math, and storytelling.
  • Design comic art, comic book/strip, webtoon, or graphic novel.
  • Use imagination, creativity, experience, and critical thinking skills to create their masterpieces.
  • Design amazing artwork that engages, inspires, and improves academic achievement.
  • Become real artists, writers, and publishers.
  • Be exposed to a complete publication from the creation and design stage to publication.

Classes will be held at the Pleasant Grove Dallas College campus on Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 am beginning June 3, 2024 through August 1, 2024.
